Camping in Baja California, Mexico with Tanya Aguiñiga

Kick off this Memorial Day weekend with a cold beer and some fish tacos (in your own home) as we explore Baja California through the eyes of Los Angeles based artist/designer/craftsperson Tanya Aguiñiga. Tanya is the recipient of the 2020 Carolyn Glasoe Bailey Foundation Art Prize.
Tanya Aguiñiga and her family have been camping in Baja California, Mexico, for the last 41 consecutive years, and it is Tanya’s absolute pleasure, passion, and honor to show people the beauty and history of Baja Norte and Sur. She will take us on a journey from Los Angeles all the way to Bahía Concepción (Baja Sur), stopping at her favorite places on both the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez. This virtual trip will include cave paintings and Alexander Gustave Eiffel’s stainless steel church in the desert called Iglesia de Santa Bárbara, as well as yurts in the middle of a Baja oasis. Also included is her emergency packing list must haves and preferred routes for scenic, cultural, or quick escapes. We’ll also virtually visit the Valle de Guadalupe wine region, for a peek at amazing up-cycled architecture.
