Student Artist Mentorship For New Art Leaders

The Ojai Institute is pleased to present the Student Artist Mentorship for New Art Leaders Program. This effort addresses the critical need for professional development and high caliber hands on learning for High School artists interested in pursuing a deeper level of artistic engagement. The program offers a unique opportunity for student artists to also learn first hand from respected arts professionals and artists alike. Led by the diverse experience of the Executive Director, Frederick Janka, this program offers participants a wealth of knowledge and access throughout the Southern California region and beyond.

Beginning with the annual exhibition of student work, students learn first hand about how artists and institutions develop and present exhibitions the program. This program also offers participants the opportunity to gain professional development in the art world later in the year. As well as fulfill any requirements relating to job shadowing, apprenticeship, or final projects. In addition, each student artist will receive a $100 honorarium, and the opportunity to participate in a group day trip to experience an art museum in the region.

The ideal participant is in High School or High School aged if home schooled. They have expressed an interest in exhibiting their work as well as pursuing a continued interest and or career in the arts.
